Yeah we fancy like... a songwriters festival in The Hit Recording Capital of the World!
Local artist and entrepreneur Lillian Glanton has always had a passion for singing and songwriting. Growing up, Lillian often traveled to Nashville to attend songwriters' festivals, and always returned to her home in The Shoals afterward longing for a similar festival here.
In 2019, Lillian's dream became a reality when she launched the Muscle Shoals Songwriters Festival- an opportunity for up-and-coming artists to perform and gain exposure, and an even better opportunity for music lovers to hear some original pieces by local singers and songwriters. Her mission with Muscle Shoals Songwriters Festival is to bring people together through music, celebrate and give a platform to diverse voices, experiences, and points of view, invest in songwriters, and honor the history of Muscle Shoals. Lillian and her team seek to fulfill their mission through passion, unity, diversity, egalitarianism, and legacy.
Like many other events, the festival felt the effects of the pandemic in 2020 as they had to press "pause" on last year's event. Needless to say, the anticipation for this year's festival is through the roof as artists and music lovers alike are eager to reunite for a weekend of making music and memories right here in The Shoals!
Made possible by its sponsors, the 2021 festival will be held this weekend, November 5th-6th, at various venues around the Shoals! The lineup for performers attending this year's event includes some big names, including Walker Hayes, known for his hit single "Fancy Like" and our hometown favorite John Paul White!
